Jain Chawal Wale

A little away from the Connaught Place main circle, Jain Chawal Wale is an age-old joint serving up some spicy and filling North Indian dishes. This quaint eatery has been a favourite of locals for many years now and their rice dishes are said to be finger-licking yummy. We decided to head on over to this legendary place to try out some of their best-loved dishes for ourselves

Atulyam Jain Chawal Wale prominently known as Jain Chawal Wale, situated in Connaught Place, near Shivaji Stadium is one of the favourite spots for delhiites to enjoy rich, authentic Indian food along with fresh drinks. It is well known for kadhi and rajma chawal. The shop opens at 6:00 Am and closes at 12:30

Places around the shop have an energetic and vivid vibe, which will eventually attract you. Visitors here can get 11 different choices in rice delicacies such as kadhi chawal, dal makhani chawal, paneer kathi chawal, rajma chawal, masala chole chawal and many more starting at just rupees eighty only.

Moreover, they specialize in parathas which can be easily enjoyed with tangy mango pickle and soft yummy butter. Their delicious paneer, pyaaz paratha and gobi paratha are a must try. They also provide multiple choices in sabzi, tandoori breads, special thali, platers which you can enjoy with a range of drinks and sweets.

CitySpidey visited the shop and had the chance to  talk to the owner of the shop Akshat Jain, who shared his story about the beginning of the enterprise. He mentioned ” this shop was started by my grandfather Vasudev Jain and the space of the shop was only equal to the size of the small cash counter where he used to sell kadhi chawal and bread pakora.”

He added, “Jain chawal” name is given by the lovely, dedicated customers after our food started gaining more attention from people.” The name is apt as the food they provide is garlic free.

Recently the shop introduced a new food item i.e; Pav Bhaji at eighty rupee. They have everyday visitings from corporate sectors, visitors, devotees from hanuman mandir, bangla sahib and many more. You can also enjoy various types of chinese food here like chilly potatoes, manchurian, chow mein ranging from 80 to 100 rupees.

During our conversation, Jain said, “we are trying our best to keep up with the covid pandemic situation by following all the protocols and  by maintaining hygiene so that all customers can enjoy our food being carefree.”

Starting their journey in the year 1975 from kadhi chawal and bread pakora to various types of food, Atulyam Jain Chawal Wale has received immense love from their customers.  Adding to the unsaid glory, Atulyam Jain Chawal Wale won the best rajma chawal award in 2018 by Delhi food walk in association with american centre.
